Hallstatt Colours Exhibition
The Natural History Museum
of Vienna invites you to an exhibition that will take you back in time. The findings of prehistoric coloured cloths from the Hallstatt region of Austria belong to the most important cultural treasures in Europe and are the basis of multiple interdisciplinary approaches in research worldwide. As a core of the exhibition concept visitors will find the comprehensive analysis of the 3,000-years-old dyes as well as the results of experimental archaeology aiming to link between the cultural heritage of Hallstatt Textiles
, contemporary textile art, and sustainable products. Works by students from the University of the Applied Arts in Vienna, inspired particularly by the unique Hallstatt finds, are on display in the exhibit, too.
Opening: 31st January, 18:00

AAAAR – Artists Activists A(u)ction Against Racism
AAAAR is a group of artists, activists, students, workers and immigrants, who are dedicated to fight the racist and discriminatory laws and regulations which give the foreign citizens, mostly the third-country ones, coming to Austria, a very hard time. AAAAR is particularly focusing on the students coming in, and hopes to ease their transitional experience by raising money to battle the effects of the restricting laws. Organizing an auction (in the frame of this year`s "Open House" at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna) to gain funding for these students, tens of artists are taking part, making for one diverse and desirable collection to be auctioned off. In a world where cosmopolism is at the heart of our society, this is only one small step that should show us the right way for true cultural acceptance.
