Carolin Holzhuber at The Shoe Museum in Portugal
The Portugese Shoe Museum invites Carolin Holzhuber for their ‘Creating between Worlds. From Head to Toe’ exhibition
The very intriguing and beautifully conceptualised Shoe Museum in Portugal orients itself to the history of shoe industry and design, and feeds on collaborations that involve the human universe of the shoe sector, from the worker to the boss, going through tradespeople, shop keepers, consumers and designers. In 2018, four designers-artists will join for temporary exhibitions, and one of them is the Austrian shoe designer Carolin Holzhuber. Her creations reflect a fascination with the sublime. Sometimes puzzling, sometimes disturbing, her shoes seem to defy the laws of physics, with illusion becoming a key element of their aesthetics. Her creations, combining modernity and craftsmanship seek an artistic reflection about concepts or creative interpretations of the world around her. It’s bound to be a great exhibit. Come visit if you can!
