Fashion Moments focuses on contemporary artistic creativity in Austria with a female view, exploring fashion, art and photography in their multiple facets. Beginning with the historic work of photographer
Dora Kallmus (Atelier d’Ora) the exhibition makes reference to works of global significance to explore both the tension between commercial commissioned work in the context of the fashion industry and contemporary artistic practice as well as the points of contact between them. The construction of role models, gender issues and stereotypes in fashion photography, is also addressed, raising questions surrounding the social significance of photography and advertising in the area of contemporary fashion pictures. In selected series, the artists represented address themes such as eroticism, ideal body images and the ambivalence of beauty, woman as an object, marks of time and transience.
